Sewing models
Back at West Dean College in 2014, I made various sewing models to allow me a better understanding of the book structure, acquire better hand skills, and to practice traditional bookbinding techniques.
For the book conservator, a correct comprehension of the book as a 3D-object is essential.
This assists the professional to have an accurate idea of the damage on the book, and therefore guiding the conservator to take the most appropriate approach for its treatment.
